Pokémon World

Take a look at this three-track wonder!

Story: Um, story, yeah, right... um, I'll get back to you.

Gameplay: There's some clicking in the CD-ROM portion.

Track 1: Pokémon World

This is the new TV show theme song, only much longer and better. No, really. This song kicks some serious Bulbasaur. My only gripe is that the song doesn't sound all that great on the SRPSS (see my DVD review for more info on that) in, fact, none of the songs do. Oh, and they need to use that whistle sound more.

Tune: 3.7 Lyrics: 3.5 SRPSS: 2.6 My Score: 3.5

Track 2: Pikachu's Winter Vacation

This is the theme song used for the Pikachu's Winter Vacation video. It's okay, but really short (less than two minutes), and it really seems thrown in, but it's decent...

Tune: 3.2 Lyrics: 2.7 SRPSS: 2.4 My Score: 3.0

Track 3: Pikachu's Winter Vacation (instrumental)

Yes, you heard right, this is the same as track 2, but without lyrics. Instead, there's a saxophone player. A very good saxophone player, but still, minus points for using the same song twice.

Tune: 3.0 SRPSS: 2.4 My Score 2.9

CD-ROM Features

This is an enhanced CD, and contains several extras. First of all, it has the new TV intro video. For some reason, this video is too bright, which washes out the colors. Next, it has four background images, which are decent. Finally, there's a screen saver, which for some reason has no option to set a "don't fade" corner. It also doesn't really do much, especially for being a 500+ KB screen saver (maybe the PC version is different).

My Score: 2.7 My Score Overall: 3.4

The Final Say: Buy it, but try not to spend $14 like I did. Oh and to the people at Sam-Goody, something's wrong with your labels. The sticker tore into a zillion pieces. And next time, I want more than three tracks. Oh, kudos for listing Mac requirements before the PC ones (heh heh heh).
