PokédomWhat the heck is that?Simply put, Pokédom is the observance of values expressed by the Pokémon TV show. These include, friendship, honesty, and responsibility.
Is this a religion?Well, according to the Marriam-Webster and Garfield Dictionary, religion is defined as 1. The service and worship of God or the supernatural. (uh, no) 2. Devotion to religious faith. (not helpful) 3. A personal set or institutionalized system of religious beliefs, attitudes, and practices. (I guess) 4. A cause, principle, or belief held to with faith and ardor. (yes) So, although I don't like to apply the word to this, the media would probably confuse the issue anyway.
So what do I do, anyway?Well,- Anyone can join a Pokédom group, regardless of age gender, background, etc. - Members are not to criticize something someone cannot help, or criticize every little thing they do (except Team Rocket, of course). - Respect the viewpoints of others, as long as they have valid reasons for them. - Try to always hear both sides of a story before you make a decision. - Respect the rules and laws set forth by others, and if you don't agree, use peaceful methods to voice your opinion. - Have fun! Be free (not that free! Put that shirt back on!) Just remember to stay within rule and reason.
How do I meet with other, uh, what do we call ourself?Pokkies (derived from Trekkies) can meet each other in group sessions on a regular basis. Places can include school, the library, people's houses (be sure to get permission first), or the park.
What should we do?Well, besides talking about all things Pokémon, you can talk about current events, other video games, music, whatever. Just try not to end up with people ending up with the same people every time, since the whole point of Pokédom is to try new thing and meet new people. |
