Countdown Gym (Stadium Card)

Countdown Gym

This card stays in play when you play it. Discard this card if another Stadium card comes into play.

If a player uses an attack that is the same as the last attack that causes direct (non-status) damage used by that player, the resultant base damage of that attack cannot exceed ten less than the base damage of the last use of that move (for example, if Wigglytuff's Do the Wave had a base damage of 40, it would have a maximum base damage of 30). You can't lower the maximum base damage of an attack below 20 in this way.

Behind The Scenes: A while back, I realized that the problem with the Pokémon Trading Card Game isn't the cards, but the moves. People using the same moves over and over has made the game bland. Now there's real strategy involved, because you know you'll have to use a different move to reset the cycle. Of course, your haymaker and Wiggly-loving friends would be crazy to let you use this card.

Card: 084/100

Pokéwatch Card Rulings:

1. If an attack has a base damage of 10, it stays at 10.

2. If an attack has the same name, the card applies even if it's a different Pokémon.

3. Metronome-style attacks are considered using the same attack, even if they copy different moves.

4. Selfdestruct-style attacks only decrease damage to the defending Pokémon.

5. Multiplier attacks work like any other attack. If you got 2 heads on a 20x attack, you can't have a base greater than 30 next turn.

6. Some cards have damaging attacks without bases (such as NP Promo Mewtwo and Base Raticate). This card does not apply.

7. Any attack that refers to damage counters isn't affected.
