PokŽtalk for Sunday, October 10th, 1999: With 33 days left to train, this is Steven Reich, with PokŽtalk for Sunday, October 10th, 1999! In cartoon news, this week featured three new episodes. To recap: On Monday, we got to see Brock get rejected by another girl. On Friday, not Thursday, we got to see Psyduck get a movie role, and this weekend, we got to hear Meowth's sad tale. Drat, another bad pun. The weekend's episode was the best of them all. This Monday will, as usual, feature a new episode. In a definite reason why there shouldn't be a live action PokŽmon movie, this week's Norm show featured an opening skit with a kid who thinks he's Ash. It was hilarious, although I would like to note that real Social Workers go to college and get master's degrees. By the way, instead of a commercial, I've made a truncated version of the skit. Furthermore, this week, the CBS evening news did an Eye on America on PokŽmon trading cards. Nothing really interesting was said, although I'd pay good money if they'd get the stinkin' name right. And in Japan, the original PokŽmon series is over, and a new one will start in December, after the release of PokŽmon 2. Perhaps this is why the game's not being released here until next fall. Details on the new series are sketchy at best. And now the um, clip. Q: What was the first US game that included a PokŽmon cameo? (Norm clip) A: Game Boy Camera Ah, I'll bet a lot of you thought it was Zelda V. Well, first of all, next week on the 18th, PokŽmon yellow comes out. I'm looking forward to it. In Dolphin news, it now seems fairly apparent that Dolphin will not be out until 2001. Perhaps Nintendo could spoof Apple and have a commercial that says: "And you'll see why 2001 won't be like '2001'"? Next, this last week, Kids' WB has been putting on advertisements and the trailer for PokŽmon: The First Movie on weekdays. A rather shocking bit of early advertising, don't you think? And finally, let's do a quick release date update. PokŽmon yellow comes out October 18th, the GBC/yellow bundle comes out October 25th, and PokŽmon: The First Movie comes out November 12th. So the show ends. This is Steven Reich saying, Hot Newz 64 is even funnier at double speed.
