PokŽtalk for Sunday, September 26th, 1999 This is PokŽtalk, I'm Steven Reich, and today is Sunday September 26th, 1999. Well, big news in the cartoon arena. First of all, this weekend's episodes introduced us to MewTwo, gave Ash his 8th badge, and showed more of everyone's favorite sleep- inducing PokŽmon. Second, once again, this week will feature more new episodes. Third, next weekend will feature three episodes, two new, one old. I think I spotted James' father in there (editor's note: it wasn't). Well, you'd think that after going to college, these lawyer-types would actually be smart, but this week, Nintendo, among others, was sued by a legal firm claiming the PokŽmon Collectible Card Game is a form of gambling. However, one of the more observant (which isn't saying much) employees noticed that 4Kids Productions, the North American distributor of the PokŽmon TV show and named in the suit, was one of their clients. Realizing this incredibly stupid error, they withdrew from the suit and handed it off to another firm. Probably should have sued the US mint instead. We'll be right back after this commercial that is almost real. Ad: PokŽmon on Kids' WB Announcer: At Kids' WB, we show insightful, thought provoking, wholesome, quality programming. Meowth: Don't you ever raise your voice to me again you bad human! Bad human! Bad, bad human! Announcer: Okay, so we lied. PokŽmon, six days a week on Kids' WB! Ah yes, the Kids' WB, whose schedule hasn't been the same two weeks in a row since August. Anyway, here's a place you wouldn't expect to find PokŽmon...a Yankees game. Yes, the baseball team is giving away all kinds of PokŽmon stuff at a game this week. No word on whether this is connected to one of their newer fans, who also happens to be running for senate. And finally, not only is PokŽmon a successful game, TV show, CD, and whatnot, but now kids will be able to combine it with another pastime, tooth rotting candy. All I wanna know is where's the caramel? That does it for this PokŽtalk. So you'll just have to wait until next week. Bub-bye!
