PokŽtalk for Saturday, January 15th, 2000: Yeah yeah, that's a fact, jack. It's Saturday, January 15th, 2000. In our top story, AOL and Time Warner announced this week that they would merge, the largest merger of all time. What does that mean? Well, Time Warner, which means Warner Bros., And Kids' WB, and AOL... You've got PokŽmon! But really, this creates a very large company with over 30 billion dollars in revenue. Of course, this merger needs to be approved. And, yes, Brock left the show (Sings, "Brock left the show, and I don't care"). Who's his replacement? A boy named Tracey. Yes, a boy. By the way, I missed a bunch of predictions here. Like Ivy being the French scientist, hey, I even made the mistake of predicting a historical musical interlude. Also, I guess the new theme song comes in next week, but no guarantees. Next week is patch-em up week, featuring Nurse Joy. And Now, PokŽbriefs: 1. Well, it was bad enough when the kids did it, but now the parents have caught on. Two PokŽmoms were arrested after getting into a fight over a card trade. 2. I can't confirm it, but it looks like PokŽmon: The First Movie will be released on video and DVD on March 21st. 3. There's another PokŽmon game coming out next summer. It's a puzzle game called PokŽmon Attack. And that's PokŽbriefs! We'll be right back! Ad: Fake ads wanted. Steve: Okay, I admit it. It's getting harder and harder to come up with good , humorous fake ads every week. I want your help. Send your idea to yoshi1001@aol.com with the subject , "PokŽtalk fake ads" Ads must be appropriate and all decision are made by me. Ads may be edited for length. Welcome back! In this week's editorial, I'll discuss the improving quality of recent PokŽmon episodes. While most shows get stale as they grow older, PokŽmon gets better. Better jokes, better music, better plots. Instead of the same music over and over, new music is being used. And undoubtedly Tracey will have some character traits we can poke fun at. Also, the episodes seem to be feeling a little longer, although that's really a result of the script. Here's a strategy I'm sure will come in handy. Why go through the Seafoam Islands if you don't have to. Am I the only person who noticed you can surf directly from Pallet Town to Cinnabar Island? Then there's the Celadon City slots. What's the trick? One sign of a good machine is that instead of stopping right when you press the button, there's a slight delay. Also, the best rhythm I've found is a little slower than the music. Then again, if you have a Super Nintendo with a turbo controller, use that instead. Got a PokŽmon video game strategy? Send it to yoshi1001@aol.com with the subject, "PokŽmon Strategy." In the latest poll, "Which PokŽmon character would you most like to have living next door?" Misty was a runaway winner, and, um, I admit, I voted for it. However, I have reason to suspect that someone is spamming the poll. If this continues, the poll will be taken down. Finally, now that there's a lot more space left on my hard disk after removing a bunch of Mario Cartoons stuff, I'd like to expand this program. As you may know, once titles and opticals are added, PokŽtalk is a 5-minute program. I'd like to expand to a 7-minute program. Any ideas? Send them to yoshi1001@aol.com with the subject: "PokŽtalk expansion." That does it for this PokŽtalk, I'll see you next week on the usual day. Until then, see ya!
